Giving Back through Volunteerism
Dr. Levy decided that it was time to "give back to the community" and in the fall of 2006 left for Jerusalem where he spent a week working at the Trudi Birger Clinic as part of the Dental Volunteers for Israel. The clinic is non-denominational and provides free dental treatment for needy children up to the age of eighteen.
Dr. Levy came away from the experience with the feeling that the "gift is in the giving". Even though there was a language barrier and little chance for communication with the children, their appreciativeness was apparent. He was so touched by the experience that he hopes to be able to do the same type of things in some other country. He feels that this type of volunteerism not only provides a much needed service, but provides him with another spectrum culturally.
